"The Most Canadian"

There weren't many culture shocks when I first moved to Canada, but maple taffy was definitely the biggest one for me. Maple syrup isn't common in Korea, so it was already new to me. On a field trip to a pioneer village, I saw a bed of snow with a guy pouring lines of maple syrup, and kids rolling the frozen syrup onto popsicle sticks. In that moment, I truly felt like I was in a different country. I didn’t love the taste at first, but it grew on me. To this day, I think it's one of the most quintessentially Canadian experiences.
