"Not Sushi"
Picnic food for kids in Korea is very different from what you'd find in Canada. We often had gimbap, similar to sushi but made with mostly veggies and cooked meat. I loved getting gimbap on school field trips and preferred it over sandwiches. After moving to Canada, I had to leave gimbap behind to fit in, fearing kids would make fun of me. Times have changed, and now, I bet if a kid brought gimbap to school, they’d be considered cool.
